While I have been able to schedule a few groups to come to the garden to weed, I can not seem to get commitments from enough groups to take care of the massive amount of consistent weeding that needs to be done.

On Monday August 2nd the garden will be hosting “Weeds Be Gone” night.  From 6:30pm to dark a formal weeding party will take place.  Bring hoes, shovels, rakes, gloves, tillers, whatever your hearts desire (no Roundup-I know it’s tempting).  If you can’t make it to the garden during that time, then have your own weeding party at the garden when your schedule allows.  The point is to get as many people at the garden to do the most weeding at once and see serious results.

I encourage you to forward this email on with the hopes of involving more people in our efforts; the more the merrier!

Thank you all for your care and support of the garden.  Many great things can and are happening, but more is needed.

The East Valley Farms and Schools Partnership have created an exciting opportunity to help the community members and students of the East Valley School District understand the complexities of farming and gardening while building unity among community members. We feel the scope of our community garden is limited only by our imagination and determination. Not only will classrooms have this opportunity, but all community members. Families are the backbone of our schools and when families are supported in investing time with each other then families can be more successful. Grandparents, neighbors and students alike can come together and grow together through gardening.
