Know the Facts...EVSD Upcoming Modernization Bond Issue
Facts You Need to Know For the past two years, the East Valley Facilities Committee (comprised of parents, district patrons, district staff and administrators) has studied the needs of our district school sites. Using the state-approved process to evaluate the building, East Valley schools are in need of improvements and modernization.
The evaluation showed that East Valley Middle School, Mountain View Middle School and Otis Orchards Elementary were in need of immediate upgrades. The areas that are proposed for upgrades include interior and exterior, mechanical systems, electrical systems, energy systems and life safety improvements.
The modernization will ensure that the schools - Meet all current codes
- Address building suitability for education
- Extend useful life of facility for 20 – 30 years
- Meet high performance school criteria
The community will be asked to approve a $33 million bond, with Washington State investing another $22.7 million in state matching funds. For further factual information, please read the following pdf file. East Valley May 20 Bond Ballot Issue Fact Sheet.pdf
