EVSD 361 Integrated Pest and Vegetation Management

East Valley School District is committed to providing continuous student learning in a caring environment. The district's integrated pest and vegetation management program reflects this commitment.
Our school district's IPVM maintains a program for managing undesirable vegetation and pests. The Integrated Pest and Vegetation Management program is an ecological approach to suppressing undesired vegetation and pests in a manner that minimizes the use of pesticides/herbicides, the risk to human health, and the risk to the environment. Regular monitoring determines when treatments are needed. When the use of chemicals is planned, appropriate notice is given. Legal References: RCW 17.21.410
As necessary, and in compliance with all state and local regulations, the district uses pesticides/herbicides to control pest vegetation, rodents or insects. On those occasions, products are applied by state licensed staff. At least 48 hours before any necessary pesticide/herbicide application inside or outside of facilities, a "PesticideApplication" notice will be displayed in the school office and the area of application. The notice will list what chemical(s) is to be used, when and where it will be applied, why it is being used and who to call for more information. Any areas treated are clearly marked with signs that include a phone number to call for more information.

If the application is not made within 48 hours of the notification, another notification will be made prior to the application. This pre-notification is not required in the case of any emergency application of pesticides to a school facility, such as an application to control stinging pests, but full notification will be made as soon as possible after the application.

The district shall maintain pesticide records for seven years from the date of application. These records are available to interested persons upon request from the maintenance department. The maintenance department can be contacted at 509-927-3206.
If your child is a pesticide sensitive individual, please contact the State Pesticide Sensitivity Registry through this link:
Notification to all families will occur through Skyward (email) prior to applications through our Maintenance Department.
