2022 Capital Levy

On November 8, 2022, the East Valley School District is asking our community’s residents to vote on Proposition 1, a replacement capital improvement levy that will fund safety, security, and infrastructure improvements at our schools. This levy is not a new tax, but would replace an existing levy that is expiring at the end of 2022.

With community approval, this four-year levy will support:

Roof Replacements

The roofs at most East Valley Schools are at least 30 years old - well past their usable life span. Due to their age, they are failing, and allowing water to leak into classrooms and hallways, causing damage to interior spaces. Replacing these roofs will help preserve our community’s investment

in school facilities and keep learning environments warm and dry.

Reader Boards

The reader boards at each school will be replaced to provide improved communication with families and community members.

Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Systems

The HVAC systems in our schools - some more than 50 years old - have reached the end of their useful life. The heating, cooling, and ventilation systems have a direct impact on the health and quality of interior learning environments and East Valley students.

Facility Safety & Security School safety and security are imperatives in day-to-day operations. This levy will

fund continued capital improvements that

began in previous levies to enhance the safety and security of our students.

Community approval of past capital levies has supported important security, safety and infrastructure improvements at East Valley schools, including:

  • Secure facility access and single point of entry at each school

  • Enhanced locks for classroom doors

  • District-wide video surveillance system

  • New intercom and telecommunication systems at all schools

  • Automated school lockdown systems

  • Parking and/or bus loop improvements at EVSD’s elementary schools

  • HVAC upgrades
