After receiving over 54% support for the bond measure a few weeks ago, the East Valley School District Board of Directors voted unanimously to place the same $220M bond on the April 28, 2026, ballot. Though there were considerations to adjust the amount, and/or even run the bond again, the decision was made to seek the original monies necessary to address the long-overdue facility needs across East Valley. The $220M determination came after months of research and analysis led by the district's Facilities Improvement Team (FIT) and engagement with members of businesses and the greater community.

The proposed bond measure will fund the replacement of the district's aging East Valley High School (originally built in 1961 with an addition done in 1989) and East Valley Middle School (built in 1968). The new EVHS and EVMS will be simultaneously constructed adjacent to the current sites, ensuring students stay on campus throughout construction without the disruption or cost of relocating to temporary classrooms. The estimated investment will cost approximately $1.96/$1,000 of assessed property value - a rate that reflects careful financial planning and local stewardship. The four-year capital levy, with a cost of  $0.73/$1,000, will expire on December 31, 2026. Thus, the bond projects will mean an increase of $1.23/$1,000 overall. If the bond passes, EVSD will receive $55 million from the state's School Construction Assistance Program (SCAP). For every dollar collected locally, the state will provide .25 cents. The $55 million from SCAP will be used to address critical infrastructure, safety, and security improvements at the five remaining schools (CCS, East Farms, Otis Orchards, Trent, and Trentwood), allowing East Valley to keep its schools safe, functional, and future-ready.

This bond will significantly and positively impact every student and school in East Valley; it is about far more than buildings. It's about ensuring our students are learning in safe, efficient, and effective facilities designed to help every learner realize and reach their potential. It's about providing our students with the foundational resources necessary for them to compete and perform academically, athletically, in the arts, and... ultimately in the workplace. It's about equipping tomorrow's leaders and building a stronger East Valley community - together. Schools belong to the community; this is about investing in the future of our students as well as the future of our East Valley School District and community.
