Overview:

The April 28 bond measure seeks to comprehensively address critical facility needs — including school replacements, major system upgrades, and safety improvements — while maximizing state funding and building on strong community support.

Project 1: Replacement of East Valley High School

Originally constructed in 1961 - Second story completed in 1989
New school will be built adjacent to the current building, thus eliminating disruptions and the need for expensive temporary classrooms
The new high school will feature improved:
- Academic, Arts, Athletic, and CTE (Trades) spaces and opportunities
- Safety (fire sprinklers, cameras, traffic and pedestrian safety upgrades)
- Ensures accessibility for all through ADA compliant upgrades

Project 2: Replacement of East Valley Middle School

Constructed in 1968
New school will be built adjacent to the current building, thus eliminating disruptions and the need for expensive temporary classrooms
6th Grade students will transition to the new middle school, expanding educational and extra-curricular opportunities while reducing future overcrowding at the existing elementary schools.

Project 3: Elementary School Improvements (State Assistance $55M)

Examples of Facility Needs

HVAC System Replacement | The average cost for a full HVAC replament is between $6 million and $10 million. HVAC replacements are needed at CCS, East Farms, Otis Orchards, Trent, and Trentwood.

Roof Replacement | Replacement of the roof on our smallest school (Trentwood) cost nearly $3 million in 2024. Roof replacements are needed at CCS, East Farms, Otis Orchards, and Trent.

Plumbing | Relocation of plumbing lines from below buildings, making it easier to access and maintain without tearing up the flooring and causing disruption to the school day. Relocation of plumbing lines is needed at CCS and East Farms.

Safety & Security | Upgrades could include cameras, intercoms, security access, and communication systems, as well as, improvements to bus and pedestrian parking and traffic. Safety and security upgrades are needed at CCS, East Farms, Otis Orchards, Trent, and Trentwood.
